Does anyone know alot about dealing with slum lords and rental properties?
A friend of mines lives in an apt that has 2 major problems. A leak under her carpet, and a bathroom with bath tiles falling off of the tub with mold. The wet carpet spot is beginning to stink up the carpet, and the ceramic shower soap holder is falling off. She has already informed the rental office, and they sent like 4 different people to fix the problems, but none of them have. Then she also contacted the county inspector and he came out to inspect the property and took pics. He said that they would have to fix it or let her out of her lease. The issue is that he said the process could take 2 mos. to get the company in court, so is there anything else she can do? And he said that it is not uncommon for a property to use that 2 months to fix the problems (so that they wont lose in court). And she has to pay the rent until they agree to let her out of the lease. She has tried calling a few lawyers, but they dont handle that kind of stuff. Any recommendations...Mold, Mildew?
And I have taken pics of the damages too. Does anyone know of a lawyer that they would recommend that deal with these kinds of issues.
Thanks in advance.
