| | | rent increase What is the name of your state? TX
My lease expires on may 31 and my apartment landlord requires a 60 days notice. On April 2 I was talking to my landlord about me wanting to stay another year and renew my lease if they can keep my rent or maybe increase it a little. They said they will let me know and only today what is April 9 I got a letter from them saying that they going to increase my rent for about third of my rent now and I don't think I can do that. Now I have to move and give them a 60 days notice what I can do tomorrow what is already 10th of April and so going to affect month of June now. But theirs monthly rent is almost twice of my rent now. My question is: If they are about to increase the rent that much and they require 60 days notice, aren't the landlord responsible to notify a tanant before the 60 days? |

| | Not in TX - you are confusing it with CA
Give notice and move. You SHOULD have had your discussions with your landlord in MARCH rather than waiting and having it on the 60 day you should have given your notice.

Once you found out what the rent was, if then you needed to move they would already have your notice but if you chose to stay you could have told them you change you mine and you will not be moving. | |
