What is the name of your state? California
I live in an over 55 rental complex. Last evening all tenants were given notice to purchase renter's insurance or they will be evicted; including the section 8 tennants who can barely afford rent, food and other. Everyone must purchase this insurance and include the Corporate owner on the policy and obtain it by Oct. 31 or be evicted. Everyone is now month-to-month and most have been here for over a decade. Is this legal?:(Unless the rental agreement provides otherwise, the tenant has no obligation to insure the premises.

Why did you post this twice?

I replied in the other thread.

Renters insurance typically can be purchased for as low as TWELVE $12 per month!

Terms can be changed once tenancy is MTM with 30 days notice.

Please do not post more than once the same questions.
