| | Security Deposit What is the name of your state? Louisiana
I had a year lease, which expired three years ago as my landlord allowed me to stay on a month to month basis after the lease expired. I paid a $600 secuirty deposit when I moved in. I was laid off from work suddenly and had no money for rent. I called my landlord and told her I would move out within 5 days (trying to find a place to stay). The rent was due on the 5th of the month and I was out by the 15th. She never proceeded with eviction procedures, just allowed me to leave. There was no damage to the apartment and the place was thoroughly cleaned upon moving out. When am I entitled to receive my secuirty deposit returned to me? Again I live in Louisiana. |

| | | You owe rent for the time you occupied the premises and that can be deducted from the Security Deposit.
Louisiana requires a 10 day notice to terminate a month to month tenancy.

The LL has one month to send an accounting and/or return your Security Deposit

| | | Thanks for the reply. Hopefully, she will be reasonable as I was a very good tenant for 4 years and always paid rent on time with no compaints. | |
