shady landlord?

i am currently in a contract w/ a man that is less than trust worthy. i have been renting since april of last year and just yesterday was provided w/ a copy of the actual contract. the contract included a list of items to fix/repair on house before leaving. upon signing intially, it was only minor details. however, upon review yesterday, the list had been modified to include such tasks as straighting the foundation of this 100yr old house, putting in major wiring, new screen doors. you get the picture. the contract reads that all of the list must have been completed by july of last year. none of this was done.
1) since the date to finish has past, am i still liable.

2) what are some suggested options

3) what if i say to hell w/ the S.O.B. and move out of state in the middle of the night. what can he do?

curious? i have more questions. but i want to some basic answers first.

so the landlord found another dumb tenant with no money so you traded your services for the rent.

Geez man dont you get it.....

Thats how slumlords stay in business by finding one dumb tenant after another!

you shoula done this or done that....but you didnt so now you have a signed contract and youre screwed.

So the moral of the story is: NEVER EVER leave the landlord home without a signed contract in your hands. Offer to drive them to the nearest 7-11 to make a copy, if they refuse then BOY...

rip up the damn check and get the hell out of there!
