I have a family member that has been living with me for over a year that doesn't pay any rent or utilites and won't get a job. Recently when asked to leave, he said he doesn't have to and is claiming he has squatting rights. What are our legal rights?

Assuming the person in question is over age 18 - give them 30 day's written notice. If they still don't move, you will have to evict through the courts.

Don't try locking them out of their room or physically forcing them to leave. You can however refuse to feed them and lock/secure all YOUR belongings & turn off Cable TV/Internet if you're the one paying for it.
