What is the name of your state? MA

I signed a sublease for a room in an apt., with the agreement being I would pay $400 a month plus my share of utilities. After I sign the sublease, I found out that my subeaser was dishonest by not telling me that there were 5 people living there when there is only 4 on the lease, and this is why the rent is so cheap.

Now, the extra person who hasnt signed any agreement, has moved out and my other roommates want me to pay for 1/4th of her rent which was $600 a month (b/c her room was bigger). Am I responsible for this extra money when I was never told of this illegal arangement in the first place? I told the landlord about the situation and she couldnt answer any of my questions. ALso, the sublease I signed, Inever got a copy of, and my subletter says she lost her copy, and the landlord said she never got a copy. So don't I technically have no obligation to the place? My subletter is now not returning my e-mails, so I am just refusing to pay the extra rent. What are my legal rights and responsibilities here?
