Tenant breaking verbal contract

What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? Kansas

I own my house and have had the same roommate for over two years now. He signed a lease the first two years and then kept living here after his lease expired for the past four months. He has payed rent every month on the first. He now tells me today, the 28th that he is moving out before the end of the month. Can I make him pay me for next months rent? Hold his possessions if he doesn't have everything moved out by the 31st? What do I do?

Q: Can I make him pay me for next months rent?

A: How big a boy are ya?

Q: Hold his possessions if he doesn't have everything moved out by the 31st?

A: No.

Q: What do I do?

A: If it's worth it, take him to small claims court. You may never get your money, but hey, it's worth a shot.
