'tenants' rights when there is no lease

under ohio law do people living in a rented house have any rights when there is no lease? various people have been living in this house for over 10 years, paying rent and fixing it up. im curious as to what our landlord can do to us- he has treatened to kick us out and prosecute us as trespassers. can he do this? what should we do if he does?

//thank you

Are you paying rent to the 'owner'?? If so, then you are 'tenants at will' which means your right to tenancy can be terminated based on your rental period (if you pay monthly, you get 30 days notice; if you pay weekly, you get 7 days notice).

However, if you are NOT paying rent to anyone, you are 'squatters' without ANY rights to the property and can be facing a variety of possible criminal acts, including trespass.

What should you do??? Move.

So, you have 30 days from the date of service of the notice to move.
