What is the name of your state? fl
What can we as tenants do in regards to having our files being looked into by a partime employee, for personal reasons. We found out she has being going into tenants files for reasons other than pertaining to tenant/landlord business. She was reported for showing tenants files to non employees and she has also being getting into conflicts with some tenants(because she also lives in the apartment complex. We have brought it to the management attention twice,a group of us went in to discuss it, we were told that they would handle it at the end of business day, and that they will be calling us individually to speak with the operations manager but we have not heard from them. What can we do now?

The obvious question would be, how do you know that she has been snooping in your files for reasons that have nothing to do with your tenancy? Was she caught on tape? Did someone see her?

I'm not clear on what you're saying about her being involved in conflicts with fellow tenants. Are they confronting her over the files or other matters? I ask because you seem to be linking that to the files issue.

Going into the files was not business, she showing one tenant other tenants files(does that sound legal?). I mean things that should never be done e.g the woman was shown drivers license info, apt #, personal info, we are concerned too since most of us here are military residence. Now do you think we have any legal recourse?

It's the potential for damage... Giving away addresses and DL numbers may lead to obtaining false idnetification cards...

WL is right, the risk exists.

kdf, send management a certified letter (rrr) explaining your concerns and put them on notice that this person habitually snoops and shares information. Ask them to remedy this situation or they risk being a party to identity theft. Get as many signatures as you can. Hopefully, management will hear you loud and clear and get rid of the unprofessional employee.
