Unauthorized entering of unit (California)

What is the name of your state? California. We lease a small office and continue to have problems with our landlord coming in our office without the notification listed in our lease. We have given verbal and written notification that this is unacceptable. We changed our locks as we had some money missing over the weekend and want to make sure it does not happen again. We gave the new copy of the key to the fire department for their emergency box and the landlord is demanding a key also. We acknowledge he does have a right to the key but we are afraid to give him one as he does not respect the "notification" clause. Today we showed up to our office and our landlord "broke into" our office by tearing out our dead bolt from the outside and taking it down to the local key shop to have them make a key for it !!!! Unbelievable !! What in the world do we do ???!!!

Without being able to review your lease, it is very hard to advise you on what action you can take.

If your lease doesn't cover it, you might consider installing an alarm system that should prevent 'unauthorized' entry.... or at least let you know if/when he enters.
