Worst Dorms

What is the name of your state? Colorado

I am a student in Denver and when I first came to this school I moved into the dorms. I found after living at them for 6 months that they were terrible. They are $665 a month which is very expensive for the small space they give you. There are 2 and 4 person rooms, two people to a room and a bathroom. They also have a small kitchen and living room. In my apartment the dishwasher broke 3 times, the disposal broke, there was no pressure in the shower. We submitted requests for them to fix them and it took them a month to fix them, not counting the 3 weeks off for Christmas break. After they fixed some of the things, more broke and they have not come to fix them after the request we turn in a month ago. There are washers and dryers on each floor and they have been broken for the entire time I lived there. It's a dollar to wash and to dry, however the washer leaves soap in the clothes and the dryer doesn't dry. They promise new ones at the beginning of next month, but they have said they'd fix them for a very long time. The dorm is also freezing, however we do not have individual dials for that so we asked them to turn it up and they did, all the way and it's still cold. I hated living there it was horrible. Is there a way to get out of my lease? They say that I can't and if I break my lease I will have to pay a little under two months rent as a penalty and the rest of the quarter as well which is two months. I understand if I have to pay the usual penalty, but how can they charge me for two months I wouldn't be living there?

Any help would be wonderful! Thank you.
