Hello all,

I have a friend who is going through a divorce and has recently found out that she is going to have to pay her attorney way more than she had expected. As of now she has no way to pay the total amount of $15,000.00 that the attorney is wanting. She has asked family and friends for money with no luck. Her credit has been ruined, so she is unable to get any loans. She has thought about selling her car, but it won't sell for nearly enough, because she is upside down on her car loan. Is there some form of legal aid or "ANY" way that she can get some help to pay her attorney? Do attorneys allow payments to be made? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank youWhat is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

some attorneys allow for payment plans. it's not required. some will allow the payment plans, hold it in an account and won't proceed until the account reaches the full retainer fee. some will start the work while the payments are being made. some attorneys will work for bundled services.

there are paralegal services that can help cut down the cost of attorneys fees.

there is also doing all the paperwork yourself, all the research of state laws, local civil procedures, and then hiring an attorney to look over the paperwork.
