What is the name of your state? washington

I was just involved in a personal injury case in which I won a small settlement. Part of that awarded money is to be used to pay existing bills under a Letter of Protection. The remainder is for future procedure costs and a small punitive amount. The insurance company has asked my attorney to make sure that I use said monies for what they were originally intended ( Future Dental Bills ). Is it legal for my attorney to act as an advocate protecting the insurance companies interests while still retained by me ? Thanks
