Attorney Lost Document?!?!

What is the name of your state? Illinois (I had this posted under wills/trust but had no response, thought maybe I would have better luck here.)
My grandmother recently passed away and when my mother met with my grandmother's attorney he told her she was getting the entire estate...nothing was left to her sister. Then the sister hired an attorney and the "story" changed, g'ma's attorney then said everything was to be divided equally. We all found this very odd and confusing. Well, over the holiday weekend my mother found an original trust dated from 2002 (not 1999 like the lawyer had given her) and was notorized by a notary in grandma's lawyer's office. My mother is contacting a lawyer a.s.a.p but I was wondering is grandma's lawyer breaking the law in anyway by not being forthcoming about this recent trust from 2002? Besides, morally, isn't he legally bound to follow the most recent trust of the deceased? We just can't figure out what happened? Any thoughts on what action can be taken now?
