Attorney Missed Court Date

State: Texas

I was supposed to have my final court date Friday (4/11) for a DUI charge after waiting for over seven months. My attorney was a no-show. The court received a call (ten minutes before lunch) from his law office telling the judge he was not able to make the apprearance. The judge called out my name and told me my attorney was not going to show up and i could go.

Now I understand that attorneys have several cases going on at the same time and have to be in various court rooms in any given morning to attend to all their cases, but what if that was not the reason he was a no-show? I know for a fact he was out playing golf. How do I know, my best friend played in the same foursome with him all monring.

Not knowing what the outcome is going to be for my case, i've spent the entire week agonizing over every possible outcome. Sleepless nights, tossing and turning. AND HE IS A NO-SHOW!!!???

Is this normal?

I've had this date circled on my calendar for seven months, making sure to not plan any business trips or meetings for this day and leading up to it because I knew my head would be all over the place. Thinking that 4/11 would bring closure to this either way, i planned accordingly -- meetings, trips, etc... Now I risk that my next court date will conlfict with a future appointment or trip.

Not sure what my next step should be.What is the name of your state?

Q: Is this normal?

A: Yes. Unfortunately.
