I am basing my answer on the assumption that this was a bank manager and not your employer.
The bank manager stole $8000 from your account, was fired and the bank wants to sue him. This must mean that the bank has reimbursed you for the $8000, otherwise it would be up to you to sue the manager to recover the funds.
So long as the bank has made you whole by giving you back the $8K and vaiving any fees due to the lower balance, then you have no damages to sue anyone for.
For the bank to be liable, they must have been negligent by hiring someone that they should have known would take advantage of their customers. Also, you would have needed to suffer actual damages, not just a temporary drop in funds.
