California customary "travel" fee for attorney

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California

Is it reasonable for an attorney to charge their FULL hourly rate ($225 per hour) in addition to mileage for driving to and from the court house?

Also, we had a dispute 3 days prior to my last family law hearing and I specifically asked him to withdraw as my attorney and not attend the proceedings as I didn't feel I needed him and I could not to afford to incur anymore fees. he showed up anyway and charged me $1,000 (total) for asking for a continuance and filing a substituion of attorney.

I realize they can charge basically whatever they want but what is customary on these particular issues?

Thanks

It is reasonable to charge a client whatever they charge that client for travel. If he wasnt driving for you, he would have been in his office billing another client. Because he was traveling for you he lost that income elsewhere.

What isn't ethical is if he is billing your for travel and then actually doing work and billing the same time to someone else as well (like while on a plane). You can only bill once for that time.
