My niece was in court today and the prosecutor slandered me,I was not presant but can she be held liable for defamation of character?

It actually would not matter what was said.

Even if a statement is defamatory, if made during the course of a judicial proceeding, or made with any reference to a judicial proceeding, the statement would be covered by absolute privilege. Absolute privilege immunizes a speaker from a defamation action regardless of what was said. This privilege protects statements made by any prosecutor, attorney, witness, judge, advocate, or party to a case.
