enforce settlement

What is the name of your state? AL
Recently while speaking with the attorney for my case I asked him how strong a case do you think I had...I stated that I thought it was a difficult case and that I did not really want to go through a long oredeal, etc. He stated that we have to show why the other male got to keep his job and you were let go. After this statement, I made the comment "do what you can" . Months later the attorney called and stated that the case had been settled (very small amount) and ask for me to come up to sign the papers. He stated that because I had made the aforementioned statement he thought I wanted him to settle the case. When I declined to signed because I was not only appalled by the amount, but the attorney did not discuss or ask me what would be an acceptable amount....it was like my opinion was of little value so why bother me. Now, I have an enforce settlement order and once again I did not have the opportunity to make any contribution to the "show cause" order. Question 1: did the statement in of itself constitute authorization for the attorney to accept an offer without consulting me?
Question 2: what alternative do I have at this point?
