i spent 30 mins on this and my question is only about US law.its about oral arguments and their chronological availability to the public and what oral arguments can be seen so i can file a class action as to ask why not Indian supreme court allows oral arguments to be available to the the public on their site or even in their lib.
plz bring back my post.you have misinterpreted my post
here is my post and plz read the last paragraph.
------------------------------------------
Hello everyone.I wanted to know the SCOTUS history of permitting oral arguments and opinions viewable to the general public.
First a backdrop
In India our Supremes is very secretive and less transparent. After the enactment of right to information act http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RTI_Act where the people can ask what property judges are holding the court put up a tough fight but eventually caved in but is still resisting in other areas
However the govt is bent on amending it as the CJI(chief justice) is basically lobbying the govt to exempt CJI post but their is also fierce opposition.
Our RTI act has been a boon for us where our bureaucracy is generally very corrupt.
Now I want to File a PIL asking the Supreme to consider opening their oral arguments to the general public and readable on their website.
I contacted a law forum in India and they told me to get info about US history of oral arguments being available to the media, public, pros and cons of having oral arguments readable to the public and how much is edited. so i can build my case.
can anyone give me in brief history of oral argument in USA so i can write a PIL to the supreme court about why not let the public see the oral arguments.(we can read the judgments)
btw whats the diff between opinion and judgment.
plz reply and dont delete it,I have spent a lot of time on this.
ps:mods plz fix the html tags, they are broken
i know that but when i write the letter to the supreme court i have to first tell the history of oral arguments in usa, thier availability to the public, pros and cons of oral arguments readable to the public. Its upto them to decide whether they should open up and will surely receive national attention.
