How do you write a motion to set for final hearing?

What is the name of your state? tn

I filed a petition to partion a sale of a home and had a lawyer at the time I filed but currently do not I am representing myself. I received and order from the court stating to lodge an order to dispose of the case or setting it for final hearing. Or appear in court the date given in that order. I would normally just show up on the order date becuase I would like to speak to the judge while the defendant is present but will be out of the country on that date so I need to send a request to set for final hearing. Can I write that motion myself and what does it have to include and does the court get that motion and then set a new date and notify me? Please give me some advice on how to handle that I can not afford an attorney at the present time.

THANKS in advance,
Kathi

What did the other party say when you called the other party and requested a mutually-agreeable date for a hearing?

I have not called the other party, I am not sure of the process, I thought that I sent in the motion for final hearing to the court and that they would set a date?
