Lawyer failed to appear to court

What is the name of your state? NY
I was involved in a car accident, where i was injured. I sued the person that hit me, but my lawyer failed to appear to court three times. I was never told to appear to court from my lawyer, so i assumed he was representing me. I went to get a credit score report, and found out my credit score was lowered. I was charged 490 from the judge because i didn't appear at court. The law office is ignoring my phone calls, and keep on delaying their actions.
What can i do?

Get another attorney YESTERDAY to get this mess straightened out and then sue the other one to get your fee/retainer back for his shabby services.
