What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
Ohio

Is an Ohio attorney required by the canon of ethics to report his own misconduct to the bar association?

is this really a serious question?

if not is a criminal required to call and tell them when and where he is committing a crime?

That is unlikely. If an attorney commits misconduct, he will likely be punish for the wrongful act by the state bar. I doubt the state bar will apply an additional punishment for failing to report it on his own.

Out of curiosity, why would you need to know this? If an attorney has already committed misconduct, then that should be sufficient for reporting him and seeking punishment. Why would you also want to report him for failing to report his own misconduct?
