Power of Attorney

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CA

Can you confirm if it is a state bar rule violation ,if a law firm insists that a retainer be signed which has a Power of attorney clause ,which gives the law firm the authority to settle the case without client's consent, if they seem it is appropriate???
