practicing without a license

What is the name of your state? OR

My wife and I have been involved in a jurisdictional dispute over custody for a few months. She is in Washington State and I am in Oregon.

I hired two attorney's; one in Washington and one in Oregon. My wife has one in Washington that is only licensed in Washington.

I have looked at my wife's response to my Oregon petition and it was hand written by her Washington attorney (on the Oregon form). It includes technical discussions regarding the UCCJEA and even states that the Respondent has paid her attorney, ATTORNEY'S NAME, to complete the forms for her.

It is then notorized by his notary.

Is this practicing law in Oregon without a license and if so, will he get in trouble?

Oregon has bar reciprocity with Washington. Meaning, Washington lawyers don't have to take the Oregon bar exam to practice there. I would do some more research before you go filing motions.

Weird, I called the Oregon Bar Association and spoke to an enforcement person and they wanted me to fax them all the information immediately. The person called me right after receiving the information and said they were starting an investigation and so was Washington.
