Angry

question in regards to legal ethics.

What is the name of your state? NY
I am wondering .... my 10 year old daughter was arrested for shoplifting with her 12 year old best friend. They stole over 500.00 worth of arts and crafts from the local arts n crafts store (my daughter is an ass ). Her best friend's mother called me and informed me that her daughter admitted to her lawyer that she committed the crime.
My question is ... is her lawyer going to inform the authorities ...when this situation is through my daughter is going str8 to boarding school ...ugh Im so stressed out i could throw up.

If her lawyer going to inform the authorities of what? That his client admitted to the crime? Don't know. Maybe not> Depends on whether or not she pleads. Does your daughter have an attorney? If not, will she have one? Straight to boarding school huh? So that way she will not have parental supervision there either? I don't quite get your logic.

Nothing stated by me should be taken as giving you legal advice or forming an attorney/client relationship. The devil is in the details after all.

No. The lawyer will not tell the authorities his client admitted to a crime unless that is the way the client decides to plead. By telling the lawyer the person did it, the lawyer can still zealously represent his client. He is only ethically unable to present lies to the court.

I wasn't serious about sending my daughter to boarding school its just that i am so angry she did this ..i don't understand i didnt raise her to be a thief and all the things my husband and I are going through right now ..i think she needs counseling more than boarding school. ....I hope the judge can understand that she was just acting out.
