question in regards to legal ethics. What is the name of your state? NY I am wondering .... my 10 year old daughter was arrested for shoplifting with her 12 year old best friend. They stole over 500.00 worth of arts and crafts from the local arts n crafts store (my daughter is an ass ). Her best friend's mother called me and informed me that her daughter admitted to her lawyer that she committed the crime. My question is ... is her lawyer going to inform the authorities ...when this situation is through my daughter is going str8 to boarding school ...ugh Im so stressed out i could throw up. ![]() |

| No. The lawyer will not tell the authorities his client admitted to a crime unless that is the way the client decides to plead. By telling the lawyer the person did it, the lawyer can still zealously represent his client. He is only ethically unable to present lies to the court.
