Is this realy a lawyer?

What is the name of your state?(Arizona) My son was injured when he was hit by a car while on his bicycle. We posted the details on a web site searching for a lawyer to represent us. One did and made an appointment to meet with us. He agreed to take the case on a contingency basis and sent my son to his preferred doctor for treatment. After months of care and mounting expenses, we tryed countless times to find out what progress he had made on the claim. He never returned calls and I finally wrote him a letter reminding him of his agreement with us, in part stating that we were bound to pay him a percentage even if we went to another attorney, and that only a letter signed by him and sent to our last known address would nullify it. We got the letter. And now after a year lost since the accident and bills from the hospital, ambulance, and radiologist turned over to collection, we're at a loss as to what to do. Strange thing is, we never got a bill from his 'preferred physician'. and doing a search on the State Bar web page, we can't even find his name. He's not in the phone book and he's moved from an office in Gilbert to one in Mesa, still not listed anywhere. (we do have that information). The whole situation is very strange. Can any one help?

Contact the State Bar.
You need them to confirm he is not a licensed atty (he may be a disbarred atty).

If the Bar confirms he is not an atty, make a police report - the Unauthorized Practice of Law is a crime.

See another atty about your claim. The Statute of Limitation may have run - see an attorney immediately.
