A situation I need advice on my next step...

What is the name of your state? Wisconsin

I was summond to small claims to dispute a left over balance on a previous apartment I rented. I recieved the papers 7 days before my court date. I immediately dialed the attorney that brought the case against me and spoke to someone specifically in their office (documented the call) and stated that I would like to settle out of court and made an offer of what I was willing to pay. The attorney I spoke to then stated that they will consult to see if it is a reasonable settlement and call me back. I never recieved a call back that day so I called the next day. Still no call back (documented the call). I then called and spoke with an attorney within their office and stated that I did not want to go to court and if I should fax in a letter that I am disputing it. She informed me that I didn't have to because they were going to ajorn the case because we are working on settling it. Got a letter today (5 days later) that I defaulted and had an automatic decision. What do I do since it was suppose to be ajorned and settled outside of court?

Sorry so long,
Cory
