Unethical Bankruptcy Attorney? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Michigan
I hired an attorney to handle my bankruptcy course. His office made several errors, from mistyping things in my file and making inacurate assumptions about myself, to mistakenly giving me another clients entire file containing all of her information. Then, fighting with me because I wanted something in writing from them stating that I had returned everything. I did not want to be liable for their mistake. They were very rude up to and including yelling at me and accusing me of copying the information from the file. Seeing as it was the end of my case and I had eveything done, they said I didn't need to come back. I left expecting not to have to deal with their idiocy again. A month later I receive a call stating that they need forms from me that I gave them before my creditor's meeting. I called him back, obviously iritated. I told him that I would like the rest of my case hadled by HIM, afterall, I paid for someone who knows what they are doing to handle my case, not his secretaries. He told me he was too busy and had too much else to do, yelling at me that I'm "not his mother" and he did not need to listen to this. To which I replied, "actually, I paid you $1200.00 to work on my case, not so someone else could mess it up." My bankruptcy isn't even finished, and my attorney yelled at me on the phone and hung up on me. How can I be sure he isn't going to intentionally mess up my case? One of the two women that made the initial mistakes is his wife. How, if I even can, do I report this atrocious behavior?
