2006 Ford Explorer

State is Pennsylvania.

I recently purchased a 2006 Ford Explorer with 38,040 miles. The purchase came with a 30 day warranty on the vehicle. I financed the vehicle over 5 years.

20 days into ownership the engine failed and now needs to be replaced. I demanded that a Ford remanufactured engine be installed that has a 3 year, 100,000 mile warranty OR the same 3 year, 100,000 warranty is extended on the engine that the dealer intends to install in the vehicle. If neither of these two conditions are met I demanded my money back. At this point in time the dealer has agreed only to a 1 year warranty on the engine.

What legal rights do I have to recoup my money if I do not agree to their terms?

The dealer will pay 100% of the labor and 100% of the parts for the covered systems that fail during the warranty period. Bumper to bumper warranty to be serviced only at and by (dealer name). Service or parts performed by another dealership or mechanic will not be honored.

None whatsoever. The dealer is only obigated to put you back where you were prior to the engine failure, even if it means installing a used engine with equivelent mileage. The dealer made a very generous offer giving a one year warranty. You have no legal right to be made better than you were before the engine failure. Either accept the offer or pay the difference for what you want.
