Why did you hand over the cash prior to receiving the title? How did you register the car or get tags without the title?

If the seller doesn't give you the title voluntarily, then you will need to sue for breach of contract. Transferring the title is implied in a car sale, so he has breached the sales agreement.

**A: maybe they do not have title in their names due to the fact that they got the car from a trade-in and the county has not completed the paperwork.
