| Defective Sony 43" television
What is the name of your state?
I purchased a Sony 43" television and have been trying to get a "Defective B board" (Sony authorized repair facility words) replaced for the last 3 months.
I had two repair facilities refuse to look at the television as they have had several problems with this particular model. I then called Sony and they gave me the name of the repair facility 60 miles from my house that they work with. They indicated they would contact the facility and let them know I would be calling.
Facility picked up my television 3 weeks ago and advised it was a defective board (defective from the day the television was manufactured). Sony is refusing to pay for the replacement board even though this is a defective products. They have indicated they will pay $200 of the $900 bill for the repair of the defective product. I do not feel that I should be on the hook for a $900 repair on a product that they let get out the door with defects.
If this defect had caused the television to blow up and injure myself and my family. Sony would be on the hook for a whole lot more than $900.
I just want people to know that Sony is not standing behind thier product and would like to find out how many others may have this same sort of problem with Sony?
I have told Sony that I will not go away, as after talking to the repair facility they have replaced several of these defective boards at the owners expense and the owners just gave up with fightingwith Sony on getting the repair covered. I am certainly hoping the "squeaky wheel gets the grease", but I am not holding my breath. It looks like I will be heading for small claims on this one. |
