HELP! Sold car and buyer wants money back.

What is the name of your state? California

This was a private party sale!
I just sold a car this saturday, I verbally told the buyer the condition of the car as the motor was in very bad shape. He looked it over for about 30 minutes and still wanted to buy.

He has signed the bill of sale and I signed also (i dont have a copy)
He paid me $2000 cash and I gave no receipt nor did he ask.
Am I liable for any tickets this car receives while he just left it in front of my house?
He has title in hand, and car was NEVER registered from me.

Am I liable to give him money back? Can he build a case against me?
And advice would help greatly...THANK YOU!

So you are admitting that you title jumped?

Not sure what title jumping is.

Once I bought and garaged the car, it had never seen public roads.

But I didnt register the car because I didnt have the money to, and decided to sell the car anyways. The last registration tags before I bought the car was in 04. The previous registration was not even the guy who sold me the car, but a family member.

Any clarification on this situation.
