Lemon Law?What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CT We have a car that we bought new from a dealer using a smart buy option (i.e. the car can be treated as a lease for 4 years and given back or we can pay the balloon payment at the end of the 4 years and own the vehicle). We have had the car for 3 years now and have had nothing but problems with the car from the start. We have taken it in 4 times for the same ignition problem, 3 times for an airbag problem (the first one being for the recall on the airbag system - which obviously was not fixed) as well as other little things here and there. When we spoke to the financial manager he told me that the only way we could get rid of the car was to either trade it in but still pay off the amount owing on it, or using the lemon law. But what happens in terms of the lemon law - do we have to go through an arbitrator? Do we get to give the car back with some kind of sale price? Does it release us from the rest of the contract? Why do we have to go through an arbitrator if the dealer and I both have the exact same records showing how many times we have had to deal with the same problems? I would appreciate any help with this. Thank you |
