My son's car is a lemon "SOMEBODY HELP?"What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)Texas My son just turned 18 and was approved for $4400 used car loan after submitting the VIN number to his own bank. The setter was someone that used someone else’s dealer license. He was in the process of applying for his own license. Yesterday my son gave the seller ( dealer) a check for the TTL. The bank check for the principle amount will be here at our home sometime today. The seller went ahead and let my son take possession of the car yesterday evening after signing all the paper work which included the “AS IS” document. Two hours after doing so the transmission failed. He is now looking at a $ 2,000 repair bill. Can my son give the car back and eat the TTL amount or can they mess up his credit for that? |

| What did the mechanic that your son paid to inspect his new car have to say? |

| We have not told him. I am assuming he will say its our problem. I was praying that their was a slight possibility of getting out of this deal since the bank hasn't actually paid out. |

Have you researched your state's laws at all? Even though the car was sold "as-is", there may be a requirement for the car to be able to pass an inspection. Your post did not give enough information. ETA: See my signature line - Communication is KEY!

| GOOD NEWS After taking the car to a transmission shop, it turned out to be an improperly installed clutch. Whoever owned this car had recently replaced it. The estimate is $ 300.00 which is a reasonable amount for my son to pay. I already told him that I won't be sinking one dime into that car. I told him to stay away from used sports cars but he didn't listen. thanks for the advise |
