Oreogn car Purchase from Private Party

Oregon

OK, I purchased a car 15 hours ago. Right now it's in the shop and the mechanic thinks that the car needs a new transmission. The seller assured me that the car was fine - when I asked about the (slight) over revving they said it was sensitive accelerator. I paid them with a bankers check. Do I have any recourse as it's been such a short period? Please help!!! I just spent all my savings on this car.
