What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? New York State; how can we proceed to cancel a contract with a security alarm system that has scammed us into signing up a 3-year contract with them. We were burglarized twice in the last three weeks. It has been one week since we haven't seen a technician to come over to the house to replace the alarm system that has been yanked off the wall and wires cut.

Please help us to proceed further with this matter as soon as possible. We're living in fear and can't think, eat or sleep. We still go to work but can't seem to focus just thinking about what could happen next.

Thank you.

It should be easy. Just read your contract. It will outline the requirements for early cancellation. I suspect it will be something along the lines of "remaining months in contract x monthly rate = cancellation charges."

An alarm system is no guarantee that you will not be burglarized. All it does is notify Central Station that a zone has been violated in the monitored premises.

Have you called and requested that a technician come out?

If you do cancel your contract, realize that the company may own the equipment in your house and will confiscate it.
