I sold my 2003 Nissan Altima 2.5S recently to a private party in Massachusetts, USA. Now he is complaining about an emission issue and to fix it he got more than 10% (of car cost) as an estimate from a local mechanic. But before buying the car, the buyer have taken the car to a local workshop and did a mechanic check. After buying he also did a MASS Inspection sticker. Everything seems to be fine. Moreover I have shared the carfax report which shows similar emission issue in the past. Now he is planning to return the car as per lemon law. Do I need to accept?

If you are a dealer you may need to rescind the sale. If you are a private party ignore him. He knew about this issue before the sale and purchased the car anyway. It's his problem.

As long as the car passed the Massachusetts inspection, you're off the hook. If it failed inspection within seven days due to the emissions problem, you've got trouble.
