California does not have lemon law for used cars that are out of the factory warranty. Enjoy your car.

Buyer beware

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California
Unless that car came with a written guarantee or warranty of fitness, the majority of car sales are considered AS IS.

If you did not have the car checked out by a reputable mechanic to verify the condition before you purchased, and you bought the car anyway, you got what you paid for.

I am not sure what lemon laws are in Cali, but here in Florida it only applies to new cars that have a problem with the same thing three times. So, lets say that the car has a bad engine, you get it fixed but it breaks the same way two more times, then its considered a lemon.

Used cars are generally always sold as is. Especially if it is a buy here, pay here place rather then a reputable dealer. Dealers may offer their own kind of warranty, but if your car broke down within 30 miles, my guess is it was from a buy here, pay here place, was an old car, and there is no warranty.

Like the other guy said, you have just been taken for a ride, enjoy your car.
