 Used vehicle from private party issue

I sold a car that was running just fine, just had it inspected a few weeks before and paid to have a muffler replaced on it as the auto center told me it needed. When I sold it-the new owner test drove it, crawled under it and checked it out-told me he would need to replace the timing belt on it-he would do it himself, so I knocked the price down. I offered if he wanted a mechanic to look at it before he bought it and he said it wasn't necessary-it looked fine (he saw no leaks underneath-checked the fluids-said all was great...It was purchased...now he calls to tell me a week later that I'm a liar, mis represented the car-he had it re-inspected and failed-he claims the whole rear end is about to fall out of the car and someone took a hammer to it-wants his money back??? Then he says he is going to sue me-there is a lemon law. I told him he had the opportunity to have a mechanic look at it, he drove it, even crawled under it, and they decided not to have it looked over. It was as-is. I don't know anything of the needs he claims it needs-as I took it to a reputable business to have the work done to the muffler/get inspected. As far as I'm concerned, they probably wrecked the car themselves and are trying to get their money back...My question is do they have a leg to stand on in court?
