Am I required to report libel?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Idaho

My employer has published a press release with libelous content which I know to be false. I, and others, have provided them with evidence that this is false on prior occasions. At the same time they released this press release, they also issued a memorandum to me and everyone else involved which states that anyone making statements to the contrary of the press release "will be subject to disciplinary action in accordance with University policies, which could include termination, regardless of tenure."

My question is simple:

Am I required by law to report a violation of civil law by my employer? If so, to whom would I report it?

No, you are not required. But, I'm pretty sure you will lose your job if you do.

That said, I'm not sure they can fire a tenured prof for refusing to accept a curtailment of his first amendment rights.
