Folks, I need some help...
9 Families decided to take a camping trip. Most drove their own cars. Before the trip it was decided that all common meal expenses and lodging expenses would be divided equally by all 9 families. During the trip one family's car window broke. No one knows how since the car was parked and no one saw it happen. Everyone was in their respective cabins when it happened. The individual whose car window was broken feels that the replacement costs should be shared by all families. The car owner feels that most likely our kids throwing around rocks caused the glass to break. He apparently saw some of our kids throw rocks but did not see it or hear it happen.

8 families feel that we should not have to share in the the replacement of his window. Are we legally obligated to share in this expense.

Thanks.

Unless you agreed to share ALL expenses for the trip, I see no reason you would be obligated to. Of course, spreading out the cost of a window amongst 9 groups would bring it down to not a lot for any individual so it might be the thing to do to keep peace.
