I really think this person should just find another church. Still counting the money? Are you kidding? "They came over and shout at me" and you hung around? What kind of weird cult are you in that you just don't go worship elsewhere?
Many people have a personal attachment to one particular church. This does not necessarily make the churchgoer weird or the church a "weird cult."

If there was some concern by the church that idowoomi was involved in theft of church money, though, I am a bit surprised they are keeping idowoomi in a position where s/he is put in control of church money.

I think if I were idowoomi, I would let someone else take over volunteer-task of collecting and recording church funds (at least for now).

A bit of trivial reminiscence here, Q but I'll trouble you with it.

Years ago there was a prominent family law firm in this community headed by a pompous patriarch and church elder, Mr. B. Following B's untimely death (pedestrian/auto) this story emerged.

After each Sunday service B would regularly meet privately with the pastor. His mission to safeguard the collections. Which he graciously accomplished by exchanging the cash collections with his personal check. Payable to guess what?

And guess what else? The story came out in the funeral services as the pastor paid tribute in describing B's years of unselfish magnanimity!

Now who said lawyers lack business acumen?
