What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Va.

My former employer and I parted ways on unsavory terms about four months ago. I am in the process of winning a DOL case against him totaling almost $10,000. The owner continues to tell his employees that I embezzled money from the company, yet he has no proof and has not filed a lawsuit or criminal charges against me. I discovered that he accessed my credit report recently using my social from the W-4 I signed. Isn't this a criminal offense? Do I have a chance at winning a civil lawsuit for this intrusion and can I also sue for defammation? Thanks for all of your advice. What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
