Email Slander/Defamation?What is the name of your state: Ohio Is it considered slander or defamation if I send an email to my cheating husband's family and friends outlining his actions that have caused the dissolving of our marriage? I'm going to keep it completely factual-- i.e. how I discovered his infidelity and what he was engaging in, but will leave out my opinions on him and the situation. Since it's all based on actual facts, can this still be considered slander? And yes, I realize that this isn't the most becoming or rational thing to do, but you know the saying: "hell hath no fury like a woman scorned..." ![]() Thanks in advance for your help! |

| Truth is not defamatory. However it can be an invasion of privacy or harassment. And anything you write can be used against you in your divorce. In addition, the type of email you propose sending will not endear you to your husband's family or friends. They will not like you more or like him less. In fact, they may like you less. In other words, the email could have just the opposite effect of what you may be hoping will happen. I advise against sending any email. The best revenge is to keep all fury to yourself (or discuss it with a counselor) and let your husband know how fortunate you were to discover the infidelity and how happy you are to be released from a marriage with a cheating louse. Then go out and find a guy who will respect you (once your divorce is final). Last edited by quincy; 10-22-2009 at 11:27 AM. |
