I want to write a letter to a previous friend and basically express my feelings about specific treatment that my old friend inflicted on me. I was hoping for
emotional closure to the way this person treated me. The things I want to say
are just to express my hurt. Is there any way this letter could be misconstrued as anything other than an expression of how I feel? (I sure hope this makes sense)

Well, there are two things.

First, this is your opinion. That is protected by law (as a general rule).

Second, if you are stating the truth (and not falsely accusing this person of something), the truth is a defense to any defamation action.

But you know what sometimes works better?

Writing the letter - getting EVERYTHING off of your chest - and then burning the letter.

thanks. that is good advice. I appreciate the feedback.
I might just drink a six pack, write the letter and then
have a bond fire. : )
