What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CA

First it started with receiving emails that someone signed my email adress up to, 20 of them , to Mormon websites. I had to unsubscribe to all. Then I started getting hardbound Mormon literature in the mail that "I" ordered. (Someone ordered for me).,then it was three boxes from UPS of Mormon pamplets to spread the word of god, then it moved on to gay porn. I have had to rush home to get the mail before my 11 yr old does since the gay porn is not totally covered. I did contact the company and found out that someone submitted an online request for a subscription. I have heard that for a straight woman to receive gay porn is a sign of hate. I think I know who is doing this, the question is, how to catch them to press charges. It has caused me great anxiety.

Tell the Mormons you are looking for a good husband and a few sister wives. They will leave you alone. Gay porn cannot legally come in the mail uncovered. If it does report it to your PostMaster.

Have you filed a police report?

Contact the companies you are receiving things from (the religious literature and gay porn - what an ironic contrast!). One of them may be able or willing to provide the IP address of the person who signed you up for these items.

Do you by chance have any emails from the person? Viewing the header from any emails by the person you think did this and comparing will be a start in finding out if it is indeed the person you suspect. If they're on a static IP and not dynamic (a few other factors in there) it's going to make the proving some of this easier.

Thank you. the police will not help me. They said they have the equipment to do it but they simply will not. i did contact the gay porn company, specifically their IT department, and have had no reply. I just want this to stop. I did have my info taken off their mailing list but I don't think this is the end of things. i don't think this person should just be able to get away with this stuff. I have been told that sending gay porn to a straight woman is a symbol of hate. Not only is this person staeling my identity, they are harassing me with malicious intent. Pretty serious charges if caught, and I want them caught but noone is willing to do the work. Great system we have working for us!

Real Advice

I joined this forum to get real advice from real adults who have something real to say. I seem to be getting alot of bored people giving me unwarranted comments. This is supposed to be a safe place to be able to get support and apparently it isn't. Thanks people for your support!

This is not a "support" site, Tracey - it is a legal advice site. And you have been given some options to consider.

Until you can identify the individual harassing you, however, you cannot take legal action against the person. A guess as to who it might be is just not enough.

While it is good that you reported the harassment to the police, police resources are limited and the police are probably not going to expend a lot of time and energy on pursuing your unknown harasser because no threats of violence are involved and you are in no danger. The police have, in other words, more important matters to concentrate on then tracking down someone who is sending Mormon literature to you. The "gay porn" you can report to your post master.

You seem to have done a lot so far, by contacting the police and by contacting the companies in question and cancelling the unwanted subscriptions.

I suggest you re-read the suggestions you have been given for additional ways to stop the flow of unwanted material and a potential way to identify the person subscribing to the unwanted material in your name. If you are seriously concerned and annoyed, hire a private investigator to research the matter.
