Question

Is this or isn't this slander/ defamation????

I live in Delaware.
My daughter attends therapy sessions and I took her to a session today. The appointment was running over and I had to pick my son up from school. I went into the reception area where the receptionist was very rude and allowed me and another patron to wait almost ten minutes while she was on the phone. At the 8 minute point I knocked on the window as I was growing impatient. She seemed aggravated by my doing so. She gestured one moment. When I was finally waited on, she said that she could buzz up to my daughter's therapist at which point I said thank you ( my daughter was downstairs at that point. We exited. My girlfriend had entered the office to use the restroom while I had been waiting to speak to the receptionist. She observed the receptionist waiting on a new patron and she exited. When I got home around 2 hours later, I received a call from my elderly mother. She was very distraught and asked me "Why (I) snatched a phone out of the receptionist's hand." She said she had received a call from the therapist stating that I had done this. I called the practice and spoke with whom I was told is the receptionist's boss. She said she was not going to get into he say she say and that she didn't know who to believe. She said that she would have my daughter's therapist contact me. She mentioned that if there was a problem with "Scheduling" I would want to speak with the therapist. I am still awaiting a phone call from the therapist but can I sue the receptionist/therapist/company for slander/ defamation since this never happened and it caused myself, and my mother emotional distress. Also, her actions were not in the best interest of the public (this company is a community based behavioral health facility) I believe these are the elements I need to prove to be successful. Please reply****************************...What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

I thought we only got a rush of "get rich quick" lawsuits around the holidays or tax time.

Must be the economy.

By God the poster's life sucks so someone must be made to pay. And pay dearly.

Please Lord give me back the three minutes I wasted reading this poster's dribble.

DC,

If the Lords answers your prayer about the three minutes, he's going to have to answer mine for a new Rolex. So I think we're both out of luck

On the off-chance that ccg did not get a clear answer to her question from the previous posts , the answer is a most definite NO, ccg, you cannot sue the receptionist for defamation over the situation you describe here. This does not even come close to being actionable.

If you are upset with the services provided at this health facility or with the people who staff it, I suggest you locate another health facility.
