Filing a false police report is not defamation. It may, however, be a crime. Check with the cops.

I'm lost here..........why would the police even ackowledge a call if it was for NO reason?
There must be something going on to provoke your neighbor to call the police. Even if YOU don't think it's a reason, apparently your neighbor does.
